Training Program of Clinical Medicine for International Students of Xuzhou Medical University
1. Training objectives
Based on our country’s undergraduate education of clinical medicine, WFME (The World Federation for Medical Education) and GMER (Global Minimum Essential Requirements in Medical Education), and consulting the requirements of medical education from source countries of international students, the program is to cultivate senior medical talents who could conform to government requirements, contribute to country development and engage clinical, teaching and research work in medical and health units with basic medical skills, capability, responsibility, research ability, lifelong learning ability and good professional quality.
2. Basic requirements of MBBS educational system
Have ideal, morals, knowledge, discipline, ideology and morality, social responsibility, behavior norms and professional ethics, love medicine and health career, cherish life, love patients, have spirit of humanitarianism, lifelong learning, self-improvement, honesty, exploration and cooperation. Be willing to struggle for the development of health and body and mental health of human forever.
(2) Professional Quality
Have generous natural science knowledge, solid basic medical theory, certain preventive and rehabilitation medicine knowledge and ability, systemic basic theory, knowledge and skill of clinical medicine, and strong clinical, thinking and practical ability. Master the basic ability in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure of common and frequently-occurring disease. Be familiar with national health work guidelines, policies and regulations and initially master basic knowledge of epidemiology and basic skill to handle public health emergencies. Have scientific and rigorous work attitude and keep learning. Understand the basic principle of TCM diagnosis and treatment.
(3) Humanistic quality
Have good cultural cultivation and moral sentiment. Be courtesy, honesty, industrious, thrifty, civilized, honor teachers and esteem truth. Love medicine, respect life, and have good medical ethics and capability of patient-doctor communication. Respect people, and understand their background, religions and traditional culture. Have strong legal consciousness, and learn to use law to protect patient and self. Be able to use modern information technology skillfully, and have certain scientific research ability and basic quality and development potential to participate in modern medical science and technology competition.
Master basic Chinese, have daily Chinese listening and speaking skills and communication skills, and understand Chinese culture and outline. Have strong capability of learning, cooperation and improvement. Build up the idea of lifelong learning and cultivate the spirit of innovation to forge ahead.
(4) Physical and mental quality
Master basic skills of physical exercise, form a good habit of physical exercise and health.
Personality is health and determined. Be able to coordinate with social and environmental development , and have correct self-consciousness, self-control ability, good human relations, social adaption and communication ability. Have healthy body and good psychological quality.

8. Implementation requirements and descriptions
(1) Training scheme ensure the implementation of the training programs, and improve the overall qualities of students. Continue to explore the reform of the talent training mode during the implementation of training programs to adapt to the actual situation of school and social development.
(2) Student development In the teaching process, always carry the spirit of ‘give priority to moral education, people oriented’, adhere to the idea that ‘scientific spirits are equal to the humanistic spirit ,service quality is equal to humanistic quality, professional theory is equal to ractical skills, rudimentary knowledge is equal to innovation ability ’; emphasize the all-round development of students and stress the development of fostering students’ innovation spirits and innovation capability.
(3) Teaching of Chinese and computer information technology. In order to enable students to have better communication and exchange with patients during clinical practice, put ‘Chinese’ as a required course, and strength the teaching of Medical Chinese. Strengthn teaching technology of modern information, cultivate students' ability to obtain informantion and information management by computer and network.
(4) Conduct extracurricular scientific research work and practice . Students are required to participate in the second classroom activities actively, especially extracurricular activities of scientific research. Through referring to the literature, experimental design, bid document writing, project application, experimental study, data processing and thesis defense, personally involve in scientific research, train scientific thinking, stimulate innovative spirit and develop practical ability. Scientific research ability training runs through each teaching process. In the teaching stage of the 1st-6th semester, competent students can participate in extracurricular scientific research activities; social practice and social research during holidays.
(5) assessment system To build an assessment and evaluation system to meet the comprehensive and coordinated development of students' knowledge, ability and quality and personalized learning needs.Give full play to the educational, guiding and guiding role of assessment in teaching and personnel training.
